Beautiful SOMERSET takes the reader on a photographic tour around this region, in doing so encompassing a fairly liberal view of what constitutes 'Somerset'. This Nigel Hick's book covers not just one county but three (Somerset itself, North Somerset, and Bath and North East Somerset) plus the adjacent city of Bristol.

Starting with a general chapter that gives an overview of the region, Beautiful SOMERSET then follows with a series of photo essays that each, in turn, showcases the most beautiful and exciting places and events across the region.

Places visited range from the high hills of Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Mendips to the low-lying marshes of the Somerset Levels, to the modern and historic architecture of Bristol, Bath and Wells. Also highlighted are a few of the region's traditional skills, most notably cider-making, plus willow cultivation and craftwork. Featured annual events include Bristol's famous Balloon Fiesta, the Bridgwater Carnival and the Bath and West Show.
